Introduction
Business Planning and Development unit has been established in five
state agricultural universities and five ICAR institutes with the
concept to encourage, nurture and support technologists/scientists
with initiative and potential to turn their innovative research
ideas in to sound commercial ventures. By this BPD
unit, NAIP plans to
develop partnership betweenSAUs/ICAR and private sector (entrepreneurs and
start-up companies) for new
technologies so
that technologists, entrepreneurs,
scientists, farmers, companies and university all will benefited.
The goal of this unit is, to accomplish science and technology-led,
sustainable socioeconomic gains by applying inventions emerging from
the NARS through technology validation, technology transfer and
enterprise development.
To accomplish the goal, BPD is
functioning elementally on Business policies, commercialization
plans, evolving methodologies in relation of research, building
strong research partnerships with industries, transfer of
technologies to entrepreneurs and to companies, encouraging
researchers by appropriate revenue sharing and augmenting capital
investment and infrastructure through PPP for sustainable enterprise
development and economic growth. Other than this BPD has a very
important concept “Technology Management Cell” at regional and
national level to steer intellectual property protection, technology
profiling, technology transfer and enterprise development
initiatives. The technology management and enterprise creation
initiative will be governed by an apex ICAR cell with leadership for
the national level activities. The Policies, planning, guidelines by
institutional, regional, national technology management cell and
enthusiastic participation of researchers/scientists will help to
develop a healthy public private partnership foundation in our
university.
Consequently, BPD in this
university is to encourage in technology validation and
enterprise creation through technology incubators to develop
common laboratory facilities and research infrastructure for
product validation and up scaling.
A Word From The
Vice Chancellor
In the rapid changing global scenario, the quality
agro-inputs and products at competitive pricing with consumer
awareness along with environmental sustainability are the key
elements for development of sophisticated, remunerating technologies
for commercialization as per the demand of farming community and
public. In view of this, Agri-business through BPD is the new venture
of AAU for TOT and PPP for number of developed products and advanced
technologies. The BPD unit is established as part of the National
Agricultural Innovation Project (NAIP-I, ICAR). This is also in
national network to support innovators who want to start new
agri-businesses across agricultural sectors, animal husbandry, dairy,
veterinary, fisheries, agriculture and horticulture. This
agri-business incubator (AAU BPD) is working for public awareness
about exciting opportunities for innovators and entrepreneurs in a
win win relationship.

biofertilizer, Date palm tissue culture, Biodiesel technology,
Mineral mixture for live stocks, Basundi making machine, Probiotic
