BACA ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
At A Glance
The dreams of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Kanaiyalal Munshi paved the road map of the then Institute of Agriculture, Anand (1936-1939). Sheth Shri Amrutlal Hargovinddas (Ahmedabad) donated Rs. 5.0 lakh in 1946 in the memory of his late son Shri Bansilal to start
Agriculture college as a component of the Institute of Agriculture. The college was named as
“Bansilal Amrultal college of Agriculture”. The foundation stone was laid by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 6th April, 1947. The college building was inaugurated by Kanaiyalal Munshi. The first batch was admitted during 1947-48. The three statues of viz., Sardar Vallbhbhai
Patel, Shri Kanyailal Munshi and Dr. M. D. Patel were erected in front of University Bhavan, AAU, Anand to keep their memories live at this campus.
The college was affiliated with Bombay University (1948-50), then with Gujarat University (1951-60) and Sardar Patel University (1957-71). In 1972, Gujarat Agricultural University was established and this college became a part of GAU till 2004. On 1st May, 2004, Anand Agricultural University was established and B. A. College of Agriculture is now a constituent college of Anand Agricultural University. The college has celebrated its Golden jubilee during 1996-97. Till the date about 6500 students got their degree of B.Sc.(Agri.), 2585 M.Sc.(Agri.) and 650 Ph.D. from this college.
The past students association of B A college of agriculture was established in 1986. This association was registered as Bansilal Amrutlal College of Agriculture Alumni Association, Anand (Regd. No.Guj/729/Anand/15-2-2003 in the year 2003).
Membership
i. Life members : Students of BACA who have obtained minimum one degree (graduate/ postgraduate) / from BACA will be considered as life members of this association paying Rs.300 (Rs.250/- as membership fee +Rs. 50/- as admission fees)
ii. Faculty members : Teachers of BACA who are in teaching and desirous of being members of this association will be considered as faculty member of this association paying Rs. 300/- (Rs.250/- as membership fees +Rs. 50/- as admission fees)
The fees can be paid in cash or by demand draft in favour of “BACA Alumni Association” payable at Anand.
There are 2900 registered life members of BACA Alumni Association along with members of the past students association. The administration of the association is carried out by the executive committee. The following members of the executive committee were unanimously elected for 2022-26 in the general body meeting held on 25.04.2022.
