(A) Crop Improvement   :-         

• Strengthening of genetic resources which include collection evaluation and maintenance of germplasm for making use in breeding programmes.
• Development of new genetic materials for developing genotypes with high stable yield, better grain quality and resistance various biotic and a biotic stresses.
• Testing of newly developed genotypes under various categories of trials such as IET, PET, SSVT, LSVT, LHT, CVT etc.
• Seed multiplication of different varieties on large scale to cater to the need of farmers and various seed producing agencies.
• Dissemination of the newly developed technology on the farmer’s field though emonstration.

(B) Resource Management   :-

• To find out optimum date of sowing, time, type and method of fertilization, irrigation and harvesting time of drilled paddy, pigeonpea, chickpea and clusterbean.
• To study the effect of growth regulator on different crops.
• To study the effect of integrated nutrient management in different crops.
• To determine the effect of nitrification inhibitors on different crops.
• To ascertain the suitable crop sequence based on drilled paddy.
• To work out the suitable inter cropping system in drilled paddy, pigeonpea.
• To study the feasibility of organic farming in various crops.

(C) Crop Protection   :-

• Pest and diseases survey and surveillance of various crops.
• Development of suitable plant protection schedule for increasing production of different crops like paddy, pulses and oilseed crops.
• To solve the termite problems in drilled paddy and pulses.
• To fix the economic threshold level of H. armigera in chickpea.
