About the Department

The Department of Basic Sciences was established in May 2018 and plays a vital role in supporting undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. It offers courses in Genetics, Plant Breeding, Crop Physiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Elementary Statistics, Computer Applications. The department also houses a dedicated computer laboratory with facilities to provide hands-on training in computer technology for batches of up to 35 students. In addition to teaching, the department actively contributes to human resource development in various fields of Agriculture/Horticulture and provides valuable inputs and recommendations to strengthen farmer–scientist linkages through research outcomes. It is equally engaged in extension activities, including organizing workshops, seminars, training programmes, and delivering expert lectures and talks to farmers and scientific community.
