Renewable Energy Engineering

To develop machineries and instruments for renewable energy sources like solar, bio mass, bio diesel, wind which is natural and everlasting and non-polluted. Efforts will also be made for development of technology for best energy usages for farming work will be the thrust area of this department.

Mandate / Objectives

  1. To impart quality technological knowledge in the field of renewable and natural energy to produce professionally well prepared agricultural engineers.
  2. Development & adaptation of solar energy, biomass energy and biofuels technologies suitable for this region.
  3. To propagate the application of renewable & natural energy in agriculture
  4. To organize training programs and seminars for enhancement of technical knowledge in the field of renewable & natural energy for farmers, scientists, field engineers, watershed managers, self help groups, non-government organizations, etc.

The department is well equipped with all types of major (including most advanced) equipments dealing with major subjects of renewable and natural energy. The department has the following laboratories.

Department is equipped with almost all instruments/facilities required to conduct the experiments/practical’s as per UG/PG syllabus. Different labs and facility available in the department are:

Achievements of the Department

  • 8 days Model Training Course (MTC) on “Green Energy Initiatives in Agriculture to Combat Climate Change” sponsored by Directorate of Extension, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi  has been organized by Department of Renewable Energy Engineering, College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology, Anand Agricultural University, Godhra during 17th-24th December, 2018. The aim of this training course was to provide practical guidance on how to incorporate climate change when dealing with existing challenges in energy resources management, green energy i.e. renewable energy management and its utilization.  
  • 10 days ICAR Short Course Training Program on “Renewable Energy for Environmental Protection and Energy Conservation” sponsored by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Pusa, New Delhi. has been organized by Department of Renewable Energy Engineering, College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology, Anand Agricultural University, Godhra during 14th to 23rd October, 2019. The aim of this training course was to provide practical guidance on how to incorporate environmental protection when dealing with existing challenges in energy resources management, renewable energy i.e. renewable energy management, conservation and its utilization.
  • Department of Renewable Energy Engineering, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology Godhra & Centre for Agricultural Market Intelligence, AAU, Anand jointly organized an online seminar on “cost effective and innovative green energy initiatives for futuristic agriculture” on 11th November 2020. About 750 participants registered for this event.
  • Department of Renewable Energy Engineering, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology Godhra & Centre for Agricultural Market Intelligence, AAU, Anand jointly organized expert lecture series on “Paradigm shift in 4th & 5th Generation Agriculture” on 15th September 2021. About 437 participants registered for this event.

Development of renewable energy facilities for energy harvesting through solar and biomass energy at College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology, AAU, Godhra under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY)
 
Objectives:
  1. To establish training cum demonstration unit for renewable energy and water efficient crop management techniques and practices utilizing the renewable energy gadgets for graduate and post graduate students. 
  2. To impart the hands on training to students, rural youth and farmers for energy and water efficient crop management techniques and practices using renewable energy and greenhouse environment.
  3. To enhance the income through utilizing the renewable energy for fruits and vegetables crop growing farmers through energy and water efficient practices.
