IDEA: Institute of Distance Education Anand.

Institute of Distance Education Anand shortly known as (IDEA). Affilated to Anand Agricultural University, Anand (Gujarat - India). The prime objective of the institute is to accomplish the distance education in the field of agriculture in the Gujarat State.

The Anand Agricultural University (AAU), curved out of the erstwhile Gujarat Agricultural University, came into existence at Anand by the Government of Gujarat on 4^th March, 2004 Through AAU, the farming community is being provided support in all the three facets, namely education, research and extension activities in agriculture and all its allied fields.

AAU is located in Central Gujarat, in the Milk City Anand, five kilometers away from the Railway Station. The jurisdiction of AAU includes seven districts, i.e. Ahmedabad, Anand, Kheda, Vadodara, Panchmahal, Mahisagar and Dahod, in the Middle Gujarat Agro-climatic zone with a network of twelve colleges, twenty seven research centers and sixteen extension education centres.

AAU's activities have expanded to span newer commodity sectors such as soil health card, bio-diesel, medicinal plants apart from the mandatory ones like rice, maize, tobacco, vegetable crops, fruit crops, forage crops, animal breeding, nutrition, dairy products etc. AAU aims to do this through education, research and extension education. Thus, AAU works towards the empowerment of the farmers.
