Two years diploma course named as “Agricultural School” was run for SSC (Xth Std.) passed students, only in the faculty of agriculture, at 14 different centers across the state under the control of Agricultural universities of Gujarat till 2008-09 (at Dahod) and at other centers till the year 2009-10. In the Agricultural School, twelve subjects were taught in Gujarati medium and examination system was yearly.
Recently, all these then Agricultural schools are upgraded in to Polytechnics (Diploma) Programmes in various faculties like Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Horticulture, Home Science, Dietetics and Co-operation, banking and marketing etc.
The duration of Polytechnics is of three years divided in to six semesters. Candidates who have passed SSC (Xth Std.) examination with English as compulsory subject are eligible for admission in Polytechnics absolutely on merit basis. Medium of instruction is English. Boys and girls both are eligible for admission in Polytechnic programmes.
Polytechnic in Agriculture at Anand came in to existence since 27th May, 2008 and known as "Sheth M.C. Polytechnic in Agriculture". However, the academic programmes were commenced from the academic year 2009-10 with following objectives.
Objectives:
1. To impart theoretical and practical training to the secondary passed students to develop skilled manpower in agriculture.
2. To provide technical person to Government sectors, NGOs, Agro-based industries etc.
3. Students will be able to get admission in the higher education of B.Sc. (Agri.) degree course.
In order to achieve the objectives and to meet To-day's need of an agriculture sector. Total 48 courses including five specialized areas identified for experiential learning covering 12 disciplines are designed for newly sanctioned Polytechnic in agriculture in such a manner that high quality theoretical and practical training shall be imparted to the students.

3. College Campus
The Polytechnic in Agriculture is situated at the Anand Campus of Anand Agricultural University, locally known as KHETIWADI,six kilometer away from the ANAND Railway Station of the Western Railway-between Ahmedabad and Vadodara. Anand city popularly known as "MILK-CITY" is about 80 kilometers from International Airport of Ahmedabad and about 40 kilometers from Vadodara (Baroda) Airport. To reach the campus, city bus service is available at the Railway Station.
4. Students reservation
Reservation of seats shall be subject to the condition that the candidates fulfill the minimum requirement for admission. The reservation of seats for the admission shall be as under:

The candidate belonging to SEBC should also bring the certificate showing that he /she does not belong to Creamy Layer persons or sections issued during the current year from the competent authority, otherwise he/she will not be considered against SEBC category.
4. Co-curricular activities
The counseling and placement activity is going on satisfactorily as the first batch of polytechnic in agriculture completed and few students are already selected during campus interview and remaining will be interested to pursuing higher studies.
