Gujarat Vegetable Chilli Hybrid 2 (Anand Surya)

Special Features:

The plant of this hybrid has medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration of node and presence of stem pubescence. Fruits have light intensity of green colour with medium sinuation of pericarp.

The CGMS based hybrid recorded 22.64 and 52.78 per cent higher green fruit yield than the checks GAVCH 1 and GAVC 112, respectively over tested locations in Gujarat. The hybrid contains 0.160% total antioxidant activity, 0.195% capsaicin, 2.80% total soluble sugars and 0.059% flavonoid. Under natural field condition, this hybrid has comparable chilli leaf curl disease incidence as well as fruit borer and thrips infestation comparable to the check GAVCH 1.

Special Features:

The plant of this variety has strong intensity of anthocyanin colouration of nodes, absence of stem pubescence and dark intensity of leaf colour. Fruits have medium intensity of green colour with smooth texture, strong glossiness and non pungent taste at unripe stage.

The non pungent variety depicted 69.23 per cent higher green fruit yield than the check AVNPC 131 in Gujarat. The variety contains higher antioxidant activity (0.112 %) as well as total soluble sugars (3.00 %) and lower content of capsaicin (0.088 %) as compared to the check AVNPC 131. This variety has lower or comparable level of chilli leaf curl disease, fruit damage by fruit borer and number of thrips/leaf than the check AVNPC 131.

Special Features:

Fruits of this variety are elongated in shape and medium in length. The variety has dark green fruit skin with spongy pulp texture and white flesh colour.

The variety recorded 19.53 and 13.69% higher fruit yield over respective checks GJSG 2 and Pusa Chikni in Gujarat. The variety contains 2.18 % total soluble sugar, 9.36 mg/100g ascorbic acid and 0.97 % crude protein. This variety has less prevalence of cucumber mosaic virus, powdery mildew and downy mildew disease reaction as well as lower infestation of leaf miner and fruit fly as compared to the check Pusa Chikni and GJSG 2.

Special Features:

The variety has short plant stature with short internodes, long leaf blade length and broad width with deep depth of lobbing. Fruits are dark green colour, tender, smooth having acute shape of apex.

The variety recorded 22.33, 25.84, 33.04 and 17.20 per cent higher fruit yield than the checks GAO 5, GO 6, Pusa Sawani and GAO 8 against their respective mean values in Kharif. It contains 2.715 % total soluble sugars, 0.112 % phenol, 0.207 % antioxidant activity and 14.47 g/kg mucilage. Under natural field condition, this variety has less prevalence of yellow vein mosaic virus disease and enation leaf curl virus disease. It has also lower jassids and whitefly population as well as shoot and fruit damage as compared to the checks GAO 5, GO 6, Pusa Sawani, GAO 8 and susceptible check (ELCv) AOL 23-01.

The plant has dense canopy with strong intensity of anthocyanin colouration on nodes and absent of stem pubescence. Fruits have light green colour with high pungency at unripe stage. Fruits have strong sinuation of pericarp, rough texture with medium glossiness.

The variety exhibited 23.4 per cent higher green fruit yield over the check GAVC 112. It contains higher ascorbic acid (11.90 mg/100g) and capsaicin content (0.219%) as compared to the check GAVC 112. Under natural field condition, it has comparatively low levels of chilli leaf curl disease incidence and thrips. The infestation of fruit borer has comparable to the check GAVC 112.

Characterstics:

This hybrid gave 20.00, 23.12 and 30.08 per cent higher fruit yield than the checks GJOH 4, GAO 5 and Pusa Sawani against its respective mean values in Gujarat. This hybrid depicted 30.59, 38.02 and 55.70 per cent higher fruit yield in middle Gujarat (163 q/ha) over the checks GJOH 4, GAO 5 and Pusa Sawani, respectively. The hybrid contains higher mucilage (28.51 g/kg) and chlorophyll-a (0.400 mg/g) as compared to the checks GJOH 4, GAO 5 and Pusa Sawani under natural field condition, this hybrid has less prevalence of yellow vein mosaic disease & enation leaf curl disease. It has also lower jassids, whitefly population as well as shoot and fruit damage as compared to the checks GJOH 4, GAO 5 and Pusa Sawani.

The variety gave 26.24% higher fruit yield than the check GCU 1 in middle Gujarat. It contains higher total carotenoid (4.95 mg/100g), β carotene (3.05 ppm) and total chlorophyll (1.54 mg/g) than check variety GCU 1. It has less prevalence of cucumber mosaic virus, powdery mildew and downy mildew disease reaction as well as lower infestation of leaf miner and fruit fly as compared to the check GCU 1.

Special Features:

The variety has obovate shaped fruit with green fruit skin colour having smooth surface. It has erect plant growth habit and dentate leaf margin.

Fruit contains higher phenol (0.132%), flavanoid (92.00 mg/100g), total antioxidant activity (0.108 mg/100g) and total soluble sugars (4.59%) as compared to the check varieties. Less or comparable prevalence of little leaf disease reaction, jassid, whitefly as well as shoot and fruit borer damage as compared to the checks.
