The candidates to be eligible for admission should have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate examination or its equivalent examination in science stream with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects from any recognized Board/ University in Gujarat or examinations recognized as equivalent thereto. The minimum requirements of marks shall be as prescribed in the university prospectus. The merit is prepared based on marks obtained in GUJCET held in the current year and HSSC examinations.

For PhD (Food Technology)
The applicant for admission to the Ph. D. degree programme should possess Master's degree in related subject with OGPA of 6.50 out of 10.00 or its equivalent i.e. 65 % (relaxed to 60 % or 6.0 out of 10.00 for SC / ST / SEBC).

Instructions:
The admission requirements shall be relaxed by maximum five per cent for an employee of the University nominated for Master and Doctorate study from other SAU's / Institute of Gujarat as well as employees nominated by State / Central Government or ICAR and candidates having three years' experience.
Employees of the Agricultural Universities of Gujarat, in service trainees as well as employees nominated by State or Central Government or ICAR or other Agricultural Universities or Institutes, shall not be required to appear in the entrance test
* Valid Non-creamy layer certificate for Gujarat domicile is required as per Government Resolution No. SSP/122015/455246/A Dt. 26/04/2016.
General Conditions regarding Reservation:
A candidate availing benefit of seats earmarked for the categories shall be required to produce the certificate of his belonging to a particular group i.e. ST/SC/SEBC etc., from competent authority of Gujarat State. The candidates belonging to SEBC should produce the "Non creamy layer certificate" in the prescribed format issued by the competent authority of the Gujarat State with validity as per the resolution No. SSP/122015/455246/A Dt. 26/04/2016 issued by Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of Gujrat, Gandhinagar, falling which, the candidate will not be considered against reserved seats for SEBC category.

Those candidates who are able to secure admission on general merit shall not, however, be counted against the seat reserved for them.
If the need arises on account of vacant seats due to less number of applications in one group and shortage of seats due to more number of application of eligible candidates in the other group, reciprocal adjustment in the above specified SC (7 %) and ST (15 %) seats between the two groups will be made.
If applications from backward class candidates are more than the reserved seats earmarked for them as above, admission will be given to them strictly on inter se merit within each of the only two groups.
Admission Procedure for P.G. in Food Technology
Applications received for post Graduate Programmes (Master and Ph.D.) shall be scrutinized by the Committee consisting of Co-ordinator, Professor in-charge (P.G.T.) and Head of the concerned Department. The Professor in-charge (P.G.T.) shall act as Convener. The scrutinized list shall be forwarded to the admission committee in order of preference. List of eligible candidates for entrance test will be displayed on website pg.gsauca.in. The eligible applicant must appear in entrance test. The basis of selection of candidate for the admission shall be the merit. The merit list shall be prepared by giving 50:50 weightages to the marks of OGPA (percentage marks) of the last degree and common entrance test examination. Separate merit list for students of SAU’s of Gujarat State and other state students of SAU's of Gujarat shall be prepared for each degree.
The admission of the candidates will be decided by the admission committee based on the seats available in each subject. The decision of admission committee shall be final. Admissions shall be given at the beginning of odd semester only, subject to the intake capacity and other infrastructure facilities available at the respective university.
All the post graduate seats (except ICAR Quota) may be filled up from the students of domicile of Gujarat, but if seats remain vacant from students of Gujarat origin, such vacant seats may be filled up by the candidates of other states who passed their degree from SAUs of Gujarat.
